Buckeye Ultra 200 Mile Road Race

The Buckeye 200 is an approximately 203 mile out-and-back road run from Walnut Beach on Lake Erie to Wellsville, Ohio, following largely Ohio route 45. The course starts and finishes on the beach and passes lakefront streets, post-steel industry cities, Amish country, and mountain foothills. Total climb is just under 6,000 feet, with long flat segments and about 70 miles of rolling hills. Runners have a 6 day time limit, which requires averaging about 34 miles per day.

Two event options are offered:

  • ~203 mile out-and-back road run
  • 100 mile option finishing at Walnut Beach, with a 72 hour cutoff

This is an open road event with no official aid stations; participants must rely on crew, local services, or self-support for supplies. Crews are encouraged where resources are limited overnight but are not required. Stores, diners, and shops are available along much of the route during daytime and evening hours. Several towns near the course have hotels within a short walk, including Austinburg, Warren, Salem, and Lisbon.

Finishers receive a large Buckeye 200 buckle and other finisher items. Entry fees for 2026 include a $20 donation per paid entry to the Wellsville high school athletic department. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers. The final course map may be adjusted and will be posted on the event Facebook page and emailed to entrants.
