Buckeye Ultra 200 Mile Road Race
The Buckeye 200 is an approximately 203 mile out and back road run from Walnut Beach on Lake Erie to Wellsville, Ohio. The route largely follows Ohio Route 45 and passes lakefront streets, post-steel industry cities, Amish country, and mountain foothills. Total climb is just under 6,000 feet, with long flat segments and about 70 miles of rolling hills. The overall time limit is six days, which requires an average of about 34 miles per day.
Distances:
- 203 mile main event
- 100 mile option beginning at Wellsville Nicholson Stadium and finishing at Walnut Beach; 72 hour cutoff
This event is run on open roads with no official aid stations. Crews are encouraged because some portions have limited resources overnight, but crews are not required and many participants have completed the course self supported. Runners who cannot complete the course must self extract and should expect potentially long waits for transportation back to a vehicle. Stores and diners are generally available between early morning and late evening. Several towns with hotels are located along the course, including Austinburg, Warren, Salem, and Lisbon.
Finishers receive a large Buckeye 200 buckle and other finisher items. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers. For 2026, twenty dollars of each paid entry will go to the Wellsville high school athletic department. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
