- 203 miles out-and-back from Walnut Beach to Wellsville.
- 100 miles finish at Walnut Beach, 72 hour cutoff.
The course follows largely Ohio route 45 and moves through lakefront streets, mountain foothills, post-steel industry towns, and Amish country. Total climb is just under 6,000 feet, with about 70 miles of rolling hills and many long flat segments. The overall time limit for the full distance is six days, which equates to an average of roughly 34 miles per day.
This is an open road challenge with no official aid stations. Crews are encouraged because some portions have limited resources overnight, though many runners have completed the course self-supported. Runners unable to finish must self-extract; transportation back to a vehicle may require waiting. Stores, diners, and shops are available along much of the route during daytime and evening hours, and several towns along the course have nearby hotels.
Finishers receive a large Buckeye 200 buckle and other finisher items. No refunds, deferrals, or transfers are offered. Twenty dollars from each paid 2026 entry will go to the Wellsville high school athletic department. A 500 mile lifetime award is available for those who complete 500 official miles on the Buckeye course.
Course maps will follow the established route and will be provided to entrants once finalized. Course record times remain listed for men and women; breaking a record earns a monetary prize and free future entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
