Buckeye Ultra 200 Mile Road Race - August 13, 2026
The Buckeye 200 is an approximately 203 mile out and back road run from Walnut Beach on Lake Erie to Wellsville, Ohio, near the Ohio-West Virginia border. The route follows largely Ohio Route 45 and passes lakefront streets, post-steel industry towns, Amish country, and mountain foothills. Total climb is just under 6,000 feet, with long flat segments and about 70 miles of rolling hills. A six day time limit requires an average near 34 miles per day.
The event is an open road challenge with no official aid stations. Runners must be self-reliant or use crew support; crews are encouraged because resources are limited on some overnight sections but are not required. Those who cannot complete the course must self-extract and may experience delays in transportation back to vehicles. Stores, diners, and shops are commonly available between about 6am and 9–10pm. Several towns along the course have hotels within a few minutes walking distance, including Austinburg, Warren, Salem, and Lisbon.
Finishers receive a large Buckeye 200 buckle, a unique finisher award, and additional items. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers. The 100 mile option has a 72 hour cutoff and requires transportation to its start. Twenty dollars of every paid entry for 2026 supports the Wellsville high school athletic department.
