Brazen New Year's Eve

The Brazen New Year's Eve event takes place at Lake Chabot in Castro Valley, California. This end-of-year trail run offers participants the opportunity to complete various distances on trail routes through the park. The event is open to runners, hikers, and walkers.

The event features three primary distances:

  • Half Marathon
  • 10K
  • 5K

Participants can receive a race shirt and an award for their participation. Free race photos are provided by volunteer photographers and are made available to attendees after the event. For those interested in additional participation, a separate race is held at the same location on New Year's Day. Completing both the New Year's Eve half marathon and the New Year's Day half marathon is referred to as the Brazen New Year Marathon. Those who complete both New Year's events can earn the Brazen New Year Mega-Medal.

The course utilizes the trail system around Lake Chabot, providing a natural setting for the final run of the calendar year. Professional timing services are used to record finishing times for all participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
