Organiser Irish Mountain Running Association. County Kerry. Date Friday 17th July 2026. The event is an uphill race finishing at the summit cross, with a total climb of 750 m.

The vertical route follows the Cosán na Naomh pilgrim path from the carpark at Baile Breac to the summit cross. The route is not marked; marshals will be positioned at key points to direct competitors and to prevent use of the Brandon Ridge route. GPS devices are allowed. There is a slight change to the route from the previous year to keep runners on the path at the landowner's request.

Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced. Required items include a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number, foil blanket or bivvy, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL water, emergency food, map, and compass. The exact kit to be carried on race day may be finalised at Registration. Failure to carry required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification; random kit checks may be carried out.

Entry fee: €7 seniors, €5 over 65s and under 18s. Entries close Thursday 16th July 2026, 18:00. Places entered: 12 of 250.

Junior details: short course is 3 km. Runners and walkers age 14 and older in 2026 are eligible for the short course. The junior race begins 1 km into the adult route and finishes at the summit. For the junior prize in the Irish Uphill League, the best 2 of 3 short courses from Croagh Patrick, Brandon Vertical and Lug Uphill are eligible.

A 21 km mountain half marathon around Mt Brandon with 1,260 m ascent, marked only at main junctions and requiring Level C kit. The course finishes at Paul Geaneys Courtyard in Dingle with food and prizes for top finishers.
