Brandon Ridge Half Marathon

The Brandon Ridge Half Marathon takes place in Kerry. The event date is Saturday 18th July, 2026.

The route is 21.00 km long with 1260 m of total climb. The race start is at the Baile Breac carpark at the foot of Mount Brandon. Runners will be taken by bus from registration to the start location; the bus departs at 10:15. The course is marked only at major junctions and has marshals at main points. The event is categorized as extreme difficulty.

The course includes a main big climb up Mount Brandon. After descending the ridge, there is a steep climb up to An Géarán. Following a downhill section to the saddle of Mullach Bhéal, there is another significant climb. The latter part of the route consists of boggy trail before descending to the carpark at Connor's Pass. Runners cross a road and follow a grassy, boggy track towards Dingle town. The final section is just over 2 km on a stony path/road.

The finish area is the courtyard at the back of Paul Geaney's Pub in Dingle. Soup and sandwiches are provided for all finishers, and there is direct access to the bar.

Mandatory Kit

All runners must bring a full Level C kit for a gear check at registration. The kit includes:

• Waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams
• Hat or buff
• Gloves
• Whistle
• Charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored
• Foil blanket, bivvy bag, or equivalent
• Waterproof full leg cover
• Means to carry a minimum of 500 mL water
• Emergency food
• Map of route/area
• Compass

The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalized on the day based on conditions. Runners must have the means to carry all required kit. Failure to have the items may lead to denied entry or disqualification.

Registration and Parking

Registration is from 09:30 to 10:00 at Paul Geaney's Pub courtyard in Dingle (V92 W2Y3). Parking is available on the side of the road outside the rear of the pub or at a public car park near the traffic lights/crossroads. All participants receive a Brandon Ridge Half Marathon t-shirt.

Other Information

Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd male and female finishers, with the prize-giving held at the pub courtyard. Camping is available nearby at Rainbow Hostel Dingle, located 1.5 km from Dingle town. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
