Event overview

The Boyne Valley 50 takes place on 18 July 2026 along the Dawes Range section of the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail. The race precinct is at the Grand Hotel Many Peaks and the course uses the rail trail between Many Peaks and Barrimoon siding, including tunnels. The event is a registered UTMB Index race.

Distances offered

  • 50k - Full out-and-back from Many Peaks to Barrimoon with tunnels.
  • 23k Uphill - From Many Peaks up the rail trail to Barrimoon; shuttle back.
  • 23k Downhill - Shuttle to Barrimoon, then run downhill to Many Peaks.
  • 12k - Out-and-back 6 km each way from Many Peaks.

Cut-off times apply: 50k - 8 hours; 23k - 4 hours; 12k - 2.5 hours.

Practical information

Entry fees vary by distance and by Early Bird period; registrations close 15 July 2026. Minimum ages: 50k and 23k Uphill 18 years, 23k Downhill 16 years (under 18 supervised), 12k 13 years (under 15 supervised). Pricing for the 23k includes shuttle transfer.

Aid stations with water, fruit and some hydration products are located at Golembil and Barrimoon; no cups are provided so competitors must bring a cup or bottle. Mandatory gear includes a visible race bib, specified water capacity by distance, a compression bandage, and a charged mobile phone (mandatory on 50k and 23k). Headlamps are suggested for 50k and 23k. Drop bags are allowed for the 50k and transported to Barrimoon. Services are limited in the Boyne Valley and phone reception is limited up the range.
