Course and logistics

The event takes place in Brainard, NE on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The start and finish for the Ultramarathon and Half Marathon is at 213 N Madison Street in downtown Brainard. The ultramarathon is a crew-friendly loop of roughly 33 miles through rolling hills in Butler and Saunders counties, mostly on gravel and dirt roads with some bike trail and cross-country sections and very little pavement. The half marathon is a scenic, hilly loop on gravel and dirt roads with about 1 mile of bike trail, 2 miles of off-road cross-country, and 1 mile of pavement. The 4 Mile and Kids Mile start and finish in downtown Brainard.

Water and aid stations are provided at intervals for the races. Long sleeve shirts or T-shirts are provided to entrants; medals or awards are given to finishers. There are post-race food and drink gatherings including a barbecue, showers available, lodging in nearby towns, and free camping in Brainard. The ultramarathon listing notes no time limits.
