Blue Goat Backyard Marathon

Blue Goat Backyard Marathon is a multi-distance trail event held in the backyard of Blue Mountains Fitness. The edition is the eighth and entries are limited to 200 participants. Distances offered include:

  • 10.5 km
  • Half marathon
  • 30 km
  • Marathon (42.2 km)
  • 50 km
  • Last One Standing endurance race There is a new 5 km loop used for the 5 km races and the Last One Standing event. The other distances use a 10.5 km loop, completed multiple times according to the race distance. A kids 1 km race is also part of the program.

Course marking uses flagging tape, arrows on trees and signage. Participants must carry a snake bandage and at least a 500 ml water bottle and a mobile phone. Shoes are mandatory and a headlamp is required for any night running. Sunscreen and a cap are recommended, and a compression bandage is advised. Water and provisions will be available at all checkpoints. Rubbish must not be left on the course and withdrawal should be reported to checkpoint or event staff. Wildlife may be present on course, including snakes and wallabies; runners should watch where they place their feet. Event crew decisions are final and participants are expected to cooperate with officials. Having fun is stated as a required element of participation. Trail runs nearby

A 25 km trail running and mountain bike event along the Oaks Fire Trail in Blue Mountains National Park, running from Woodford train station to Euroka Campground. Aid station at 12 km and finish-line food and drinks are included.

A guided trail training run in Blue Mountains National Park covering an 18 km return with steep stairs, river crossing and single track. NPWS ECO PASS licensed trainers lead three pace groups and discuss gear, nutrition and race strategy.

A guided training run on the Hounslow course from Perry's Lookdown in Blue Mountains National Park. Routes include a steep 18 km return and an 11 km option with significant elevation gain.

Trail running event at the Bilpin Fruit Bowl in the Blue Mountains with 16 km and 34 km courses plus a 1.5 km kids race. The event is non profit and donates ten dollars from each entry to local Rural Fire Services.
