About the race
BMF UTA Stair Training Run offers guided stair-focused training on the Ultra Trail Australia (UTA) courses around Katoomba, NSW. The route will include the UTA11 course as a minimum and may extend onto additional UTA trails to reach up to 24 km; the published route may be adjusted for National Parks or council closures, landslides, floods, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Training is delivered by Blue Mountains Fitness trainers in partnership with The Body Mechanic and aligns with STREEK.RUN base and event-specific UTA race training plans. The organisers hold a National Parks and Wildlife Service ECO PASS licence and insurance to conduct training within the National Park.
Multiple pace groups are provided: TURTLES, a mid-paced group, and SPEEDY HARES; a walker group and walk trainer may be added if required. The session uses UTA22 mandatory gear as race-day preparation and participants should carry sufficient fuel and hydration for the session length. Trainers discuss race preparation topics including gear, nutrition, pacing, aid stations, and race strategy.
Minimum age is 12 for this training run; exceptions for younger experienced children are considered by prior discussion. An information sheet with meeting points, course map, and instructions is issued to participants. Fees listed are A$60 for ages 17 and over and A$50 for ages 16 and under.
