Black Toe Run
The Black Toe Run is an endurance trail event held at Hardin Farm in Watertown, Tennessee. It is offered in 12 hour, 24 hour and 48 hour formats and accepts both individual runners and relay teams of two or four. The course is approximately a 5 mile trail loop with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain per lap. The objective is to complete as many loops as possible within the chosen time frame.
The event includes a rucking division in which participants carry a weighted pack. Weight requirements are 20 lb for participants over 150 lb and 10 lb for participants under 150 lb. Rucking weight must be verifiable and may be checked during the event.
Race rules require only one team member on course at a time and rely on runners to record lap returns on a visible board. Each team member must complete at least one lap every 12 hours unless injured. Solo entrants in the longer events may have limited aid early on; the 48 hour option has a period with reduced aid and minimal race director interaction, placing emphasis on self-fueling and self-tracking.
Awards include gendered placements for most timed events and non-gendered placement for the 48 hour option. Special recognitions include a custom beer stein for any runner who completes 50 miles in 12 hours and a substantial prize or commemorative honor for the first runner to reach 100 miles in 24 hours. Organizers reserve the right to cancel the event for extreme weather and may apply finishing deductions for late lap returns. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
