The Black Lung Ultra Marathon, presented by Coliseum Sports & Entertainment, returns for its third annual running on September 12, 2026. The event takes place in Nordegg, AB, located at the entrance to the David Thompson corridor through the Rocky Mountains. The main race is a rugged 62 km ultra divided into three legs and is described as following mountain ridges and historic mining areas. The event name references the hazards of long coal-mining shifts and the course passes through parts of Nordegg’s historic landscape.

Entry options include a Solo 62k and a Team 62k. The listed registration fees are $265.97 for Solo 62k and $233.66 for Team 62k. Waitlists for solo and team entries are offered at no charge. The weekend also includes a kids event called The Minor Miners Coal Run: a 1.7 km children’s race for those 15 and under that follows the Historic Nordegg Collieries.
