Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Oklahoma City

The Summer Meltdown Half Marathon is organized by Bigfoot Running Company at Wheeler Park in Oklahoma City. The event uses parks and trails with shaded paths and mixed surfaces; participants may run on pavement, crushed granite and occasional dirt paths. Aid stations are positioned along the course to provide water and assistance. A DJ will provide music and announcements, and finishers are offered snacks, refreshments and a Kona Ice post-race treat.

Race options include multiple distances and a virtual entry:

• Kids Dash - about 20 yard dash, for kids 10 and under, not timed.
• 1 Mile - 1 mile, not chip timed.
• 5K - 3.11 miles, chip timed.
• Quarter Marathon - 6.55 miles, chip timed.
• Half Marathon - 13.1 miles, chip timed.
• Volunteer then Run 5K - 3.11 miles, custom chip timed.
• Virtual Run - 13.1 miles virtual option.

Chip timing is used for the 5K, Quarter Marathon and Half Marathon; the Kids Dash and 1 Mile are not chip timed. Awards include 1st overall trophies for male and female finishers, masters recognition pins for first place in the 40+ category, and standard age group pins with gold, silver and bronze placements across the listed age brackets. Packet pickup is offered in a 1.5-hour session prior to the race and shirts are guaranteed for registrations placed more than 10 days before the event.

Volunteer roles cover water stations, course monitors, finish line help, packet pickup, lead bike and mascot duties.
