Event overview

The Big Jungle Run is a jungle-themed fun run held at Burnaby Lake Park. The 4th annual edition takes place on May 31, 2025, with measured routes and a wooden finishers medal for finishers. Distances offered include:

  • 1 km (kids run)
  • 5 km
  • 10 km

Registration items include a personalised running bib with a custom "Jungle Name", an animal mask, a finishers wooden medal, a finish clock (no chip timing), a water station, entertainment, and a chance to win door prizes. Runners and walkers must complete their route within 2 hours. Leashed dogs and strollers are permitted; both should start in the final wave and strollers should have wheels suitable for unpaved trails. The course uses gravel and woodchip trail pathways with minimal inclines.

Location, access and fees

The start/finish area is at Burnaby Lake Rugby Club, Sperling Avenue, Burnaby, BC V5B 4X5. The site is accessible by local transit, bicycle and nearby walking trails. Closest bus services are 110 and 114 (Norland Ave at Sprott St). The Sperling-Burnaby Lake SkyTrain station is a short walk via the Central Valley Greenway. Limited parking is available in the Burnaby Lake parking lot off Sperling Ave.

Early bird pricing starts at $20 for the 1 km kids run, $35 for the 5 km and $36 for the 10 km. Group discounts apply (15% off for groups of four or more). Under-18 entries for the 5 km and 10 km have a maximum fee of $29. Run kit mail out is available for $9. Packet pickup is available at Burnaby Kintec the day before the event.
