Big Dog's Backyard Ultra is scheduled for October 17, 2026 at the Big Farm-Short Creek in Bell Buckle, TN. The event is part of the World Backyard Ultra Team Championships held on the third Saturday in October, 2026 at sites around the world. It uses a Last Man Standing format.
Entry to this team championship is limited to athletes who have qualified. Qualifications are earned either by winning silver ticket events or by placing among the top At Large performers in an athlete's nation over the prior two years. The United States team will be composed of the top 15 qualified American athletes who are citizens or permanent residents.
The formal qualifying period ends on August 15, 2026. All results are to be entered within a week of that date, at which point the At Large list will be finalized and all qualified athletes will be accepted. All athletes who have earned a silver ticket will be accepted at this time. Organizers will contact qualified athletes who have not applied to determine their intentions; this allows places to be offered to alternates.
As the qualifying window closes, organizers may also accept At Large athletes who have accumulated a sufficient number of hours. At present, applications are being accepted from athletes who have equaled or exceeded 100 hours. Registration closes on September 1, 2026.
