Bradbury Badass Races : Pownal, ME

The event is the conclusion of the Bradbury Trail Running Series and is organized by Trail Monster Running, a not-for-profit group run by volunteers. The course uses classic Maine singletrack on both sides of Bradbury Mountain State Park, including Tryon Mountain, the powerlines, and Elwood Loop (also called Snowman’s Loop), and returns to the park for the finish. Terrain includes steep hills, rocks, roots, and very little flat, plus about 1/2 mile of paved road and 1/4 mile of dirt road.

Distances

  • Half-Pint : 25K (approximately a 15.5-mile loop)
  • Pounder : 50K (two laps of the Half-Pint course)

Each race is capped at 100 runners. When caps are reached, registration closes with no waiting list and no bib transfers; the director may adjust the cap to allow eligible series finishers to register. Pacers are not allowed.

There are two fully stocked aid stations: PT Cruiser’s in the start/finish field and Snowman’s at the Tryon Mountain trailhead on Lawrence Road. The longest gap between aid stations is about 6 miles. Aid station supplies include hot foods, sweet and salty snacks, fresh fruit, water, Tailwind Mandarin Orange electrolyte mix, soda, coffee, and broth. Pounder runners may use one labeled drop bag at the central aid station; unclaimed items will be donated.

All finishers receive a custom finisher glass. Runners who complete the Bradbury Trail Series receive the Badass Hoodie. No age-group awards are given. Proceeds support race equipment and local outdoor charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
