Béluga Ultra Trail - course and route information

Béluga Ultra Trail is a family-oriented event that supports beluga protection. Routes use the Le Fjord trail in Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay, along a fjord of more than 100 km. The trail crosses Sacré-Coeur and finishes on the beach at Tadoussac. Final loops include the Anse à l'Eau hill and the Pointe de l'Islet, which offer views of Tadoussac and the fjord.

Participants may observe local marine wildlife, including belugas; the event notes three adopted belugas named Ultra, Trail and Kileau.

Distances offered

  • 45 km - full Le Fjord Trail plus final loops.
  • 30 km - section of the trail plus final loops.
  • 18 km - final section of the trail with loops.
  • 5 km - starts near the finish area, mixed surfaces.
  • 1.5 km - accessible introductory course, free.

Elevation gains listed are +1625 m for 45 km, +1182 m for 30 km and +600 m for 18 km. Aid stations for the 45 km, 30 km and 18 km courses are spaced about 10 to 13 km apart due to limited access; participants should plan water and food accordingly. The 5 km course alternates between asphalt, dirt trail, stairs and rocky sections with roots. Strollers are not allowed on the specified courses. The Bébéluga Trail (1.5 km) is free, companions are allowed, shoes are required and child registration is mandatory.

The event is organized by Trails du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
