Bell Ringer 5 Hour
A five hour trail event scheduled for September 19, 2026 at Shannondale Valley near Thornhill and Morden, Manitoba. The format offers a five hour individual option and a two person relay. The goal is to complete as many laps as possible within the time limit.
The course is composed of loops of about 4 to 5 km on single track, mostly dirt and grass with some rocks. Each lap includes roughly 100 meters of elevation gain. The valley area is approximately 30 meters deep. The route is marked with arrows, tape and flags. Officials record bib numbers and lap start and finish at the same spot. Several close switchbacks could allow shortening laps.
The event takes place on private land and participants are asked to treat it respectfully. The land is on Treaty 1 territory historically used by Cree, Dakota, Ojibay, Cree-Ojibway and Dene peoples. Event provisions include a T-shirt or other swag for registrations paid by August 20, 2026, portable toilets, tents and shelters, endurance snacks (gummies, honey stingers, chips, donuts), endurance drinks (Tailwind, Nuun, water) and a cupless aid setup. A first aid responder will be on site and a post race barbecue is being arranged. Camping is available at Morden Beach Campground and spot pitching on site is possible with prior notification. Morden is about 10 minutes from the venue and Winkler about 20 minutes. Registration fee listed as 90 USD for ages 12 and up. Proceeds support the Boundary Trails Nordic Junior Development team travel costs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
