Beast of the East - Trail Half Marathon & 10k

The event stages two off-road races on Jersey's north coast with start locations at St Catherine's Woods for the Half and Bouley Bay for the 10k, and a shared finish at Devil's Hole. Distances include:

  • Half Marathon : 13.1 miles
  • 10k : 10 kilometres

Both courses are approximately 95% trail and fully marked with arrows and barrier tape. The Half has about 2,700 ft of elevation while the 10k has about 1,600 ft, with steep climbs and technical descents along coastal cliff paths. Checkpoints are cupless; water, coke and sweets are provided but runners must bring a reusable cup or bottle.

Entry fees and limits are published: the Half fee is £43 with a 100 runner limit, the 10k fee is £33 with a 50 runner limit. Entry includes a race number, finisher T shirt, medal, water stops, event organisation, results, and post-race drinks and snacks.

A set of mandatory safety and weather kit is required for both distances, including trail shoes, warm layers, foil blanket, rain jacket if needed, at least 1 litre of water capacity, sufficient food, and the What3words app. Random kit checks may occur and missing mandatory items can incur penalties or disqualification. Event rules require following course markings and being self sufficient on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
