Round the Rock Ultra Marathon Jersey
Round the Rock takes place on the island of Jersey, featuring a course primarily composed of coastal trails. The event offers three distinct distances for participants to choose from:
- Ultra Marathon (approx. 48 miles)
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
The Ultra Marathon begins at the Steam Clock in St Helier and follows an anti-clockwise route around the island, keeping the sea on the right-hand side. The Marathon distance joins the course at Les Fontaines, while the Half Marathon starts at the Watersplash in St Ouen's. All three races conclude in St Helier, with the entire course closing at 19:00.
This is a self-sufficient, solo race where participants are expected to navigate using provided GPX files, as markers and tape are only placed at major decision points. There are no pacers, crews, or outside assistance permitted. Aid stations are located approximately every 8-10 miles, offering water and basic snacks such as fruit, crisps, and sweets. The event is cupless, requiring runners to carry their own reusable drinking system with at least a 1000 ml capacity.
Specific mandatory kit is required for all distances, including a rucksack, a long-sleeve base layer, a hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a compass, a foil survival blanket, and a first-aid kit. A mobile phone with a specialized location app and the route loaded is also necessary.
Entry limits are strictly enforced, with the Ultra Marathon capped at 150 places and the other distances capped at 50 places each. Special time limits apply to the Ultra Marathon, including a mandatory halfway cut-off at Les Fontaines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
