Course and aid stations

The course follows the Erie Canal towpath and is described as a flat route. Runners leave the marina on a paved trail for about 1 mile, cross a historic drawbridge in Lockport, then continue on the towpath to a middle aid station. From that aid station it is approximately 6 miles to the turnaround. Wide Water’s Marina provides restrooms, showers, warming shelters and aid station support. Aid station food and drinks listed include hot cocoa, coffee, Coke, Mountain Dew, water, Heed, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken noodle soup, pizza, pancakes and donuts.

Conditions and recognitions

Past editions have included heavy snow; previous events reported more than two feet of snow at one edition and over a foot at another. A special award, the "Double Beast Buckle," is given to any 100 mile participant who completes both the Winter BoB 100 and the Summer BoB 100 in the same calendar year.
