The Bear Trap Trail Races take place in Settlement Canyon, Tooele County, Utah on October 11, 2025. This is the 8th annual running of the event. Courses run on forested singletrack, dirt roads, exposed bench trails, ridgeline and foothills with views of Tooele Valley and nearby peaks. The event is USATF sanctioned. Registration closes on October 9, 2025.
Course details
- Marathon - ~26.5 miles, ~8,000 ft total vert
- 23K - ~14.8 miles (23k), ~3,500 ft total vert
- 10K - ~6.2 miles (10k), ~1,800 ft total vert
The event uses three loops that return to a central Start/Finish Area aid station. Loop A is about 6.20 miles with ~1,800 ft vert (87% single-track; purple markings). Loop B is about 8.6 miles with ~1,700 ft vert (78% single-track; blue markings). Loop C is about 8.2 miles with ~1,600 ft vert (mostly double-track and dirt road; red markings). The marathon follows Loops A, B and C and includes a 3.5-mile out-and-back summit to Tooele Peak (9,600') from Bear Trap Pass (7,000'). The 23K uses Loops A and B; the 10K uses Loop A. There are no on-course aid stations except the Start/Finish Area; participants are advised to carry hydration and supplies. Cutoff durations: marathon 9 hours, 23K 5 hours, 10K 2 hours.
