The 9th annual Bear Trap Trail Races take place in Settlement Canyon, Tooele County, on courses that run through forested singletrack, rugged dirt roads, exposed bench trails, and steep ridgelines overlooking Tooele Valley and nearby peaks.

The event uses three distinct loops. Loop A is about 6.20 miles with roughly 1,800 ft of vertical gain and is mostly single-track. Loop B is about 8.6 miles with roughly 1,700 ft of vertical and a mix of single- and double-track plus dirt road. Loop C is about 8.2 miles with roughly 1,600 ft of vertical and more double-track and dirt road.

  • Marathon approximately 26.5 miles, about 8,000 ft total vertical.
  • 23k approximately 14.8 miles, about 3,500 ft total vertical.
  • 10k approximately 6.2 miles, about 1,800 ft total vertical.

The marathon combines Loops A, B, and C and includes a 3.5-mile out-and-back to the 9,600 ft Tooele Peak summit from Bear Trap Pass for marathon entrants only. Aid is provided only at the Start/Finish Area; there are no other on course aid stations. Time limits apply: marathon 9 hours, 23k 5 hours, 10k 2 hours.
