Bear Trap Trail Races - Tooele, UT

The Bear Trap Trail Races take place on October 10, 2026 in Settlement Canyon, Tooele County, Utah. The event is organized by Tooele Trail Racing and is USATF sanctioned. Courses run through the Oquirrh Mountains and surrounding foothills with views of Tooele Valley and nearby high peaks.

The event uses three distinct loops that return to a central Start/Finish Area that also functions as the sole aid station. Because there are no on-course aid stations, participants are advised to carry adequate hydration, food, and gear for possible inclement weather.

Loop A is about 6.20 miles with approximately 1,800 feet of vertical gain, roughly 87% single-track, 3% double-track, and 10% dirt road. Loop B is about 8.6 miles with approximately 1,700 feet of vertical gain, about 78% single-track, 13% double-track, 8% dirt road, and 1% pavement. Loop C is about 8.2 miles with approximately 1,600 feet of vertical gain, with a higher share of double-track and dirt road.

The Marathon route combines Loops A, B, and C and includes a 3.5-mile out-and-back summit to the 9,600 foot Tooele Peak from Bear Trap Pass. The event also offers shorter options and modest awards for the top three men and women in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
