Bear Trap Trail Races is a trail running event held in Settlement Canyon near Tooele, Utah, organized by Tooele Trail Racing. The event is USATF sanctioned and offers multiple distance options on natural singletrack, double-track, dirt roads, and some pavement.
- Marathon ~26.5 miles, ~8,000 ft total vert
- 23k ~14.8 miles, ~3,500 ft total vert
- 10k ~6.2 miles, ~1,800 ft total vert
The course is built from three loops. Loop A is about 6.2 miles with ~1,800 ft of climbing and mostly single-track. Loop B is about 8.6 miles with ~1,700 ft of climbing and a mix of single- and double-track. Loop C is about 8.2 miles with ~1,600 ft of climbing and more double-track and dirt road. The Marathon combines Loops A, B, and C and includes a 3.5-mile out and back to the summit of Tooele Peak for marathon entrants only.
There are no on-course aid stations except the Start/Finish area. Aid at the Start/Finish is used as the event’s aid point for all distances, with additional Start/Finish visits noted for the Marathon. Participants are advised to carry sufficient hydration, food, and weather gear. The event uses color course markings for each loop and awards modest prizes to the top three men and women in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
