Bear Trap Trail Races
Bear Trap Trail Races is the 9th annual trail running event organized by Tooele Trail Racing in Settlement Canyon, Tooele, Utah. The courses run through forested singletrack, rugged dirt roads, exposed bench trails, steep ridgelines, and rolling foothills with views of Tooele Valley and the surrounding mountain peaks.
The course uses three distinct loops:
Loop A is about 6.20 miles with roughly 1,800 ft of vert (87% single-track, 3% double-track, 10% dirt road).
Loop B is about 8.6 miles with roughly 1,700 ft of vert (78% single-track, 13% double-track, 8% dirt road, 1% pavement).
Loop C is about 8.2 miles with roughly 1,600 ft of vert (2% single-track, 67% double-track, 29% dirt road, 2% pavement).
Distances offered include:
- Marathon: Loops A B C plus a 3.5 mile out and back to Tooele Peak, about 26.5 miles total and ~8,000 ft vert.
- 23K: Loops A and B, about 14.8 miles and ~3,500 ft vert.
- 10K: Loop A, about 6.2 miles and ~1,800 ft vert.
There are no on-course aid stations other than the Start/Finish Area. Organizers recommend carrying adequate hydration, food, and gear for inclement weather. The event is USATF sanctioned. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
