Bear Trap Trail Races

The Bear Trap Trail Races take place on October 10, 2026, in Settlement Canyon near Tooele, Utah. This is the 9th annual running of the event. The races are USATF sanctioned. Registration opens February 1, 2026. The venue uses the Start/Finish Area near Settlement Canyon Road as the primary aid station and race hub.
Courses
- Marathon - ~26.5 miles, ~8,000 ft total vert, Loops A, B, and C.
- 23K - ~14.8 miles (23k), ~3,500 ft total vert, Loops A and B.
- 10K - ~6.2 miles (10k), ~1,800 ft total vert, Loop A only.
Loop A: ~6.20 miles with ~1,800 ft of vertical gain. Surface: 87% single-track, 3% double-track, 10% dirt road. Trails included: Ridge Trail, Bottom/Muddy Trail, Left Hand Fork Trail. Marked with purple course markings.
Loop B: ~8.6 miles with ~1,700 ft of vertical gain. Surface: 78% single-track, 13% double-track, 8% dirt road, 1% pavement. Trails included: Dark Trail, Old Kennecott Road, Bench Trail, Left Hand Fork Trail. Marked with blue course markings.
Loop C: ~8.2 miles with ~1,600 ft of vertical gain. Surface: 2% single-track, 67% double-track, 29% dirt road, 2% pavement. Trails included: Skyline Ridge Trail, foothills ATV trails, Left Hand Fork Road. Marked with red course markings.
Marathon note: after reaching Bear Trap Pass (7,000 ft), marathon runners do a 3.5-mile out-and-back to the 9,600 ft Tooele Peak summit. There are no on-course aid stations other than the Start/Finish Area; participants are advised to carry hydration, food, and gear for changing weather. The Start/Finish Area serves as the aid point at loop returns. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
