Bear River Trail Race

The Bear River Trail Race is a set of trail distances held at Bear Meadows Park in Evanston, Wyoming. The course network combines the Bear River greenway, the groomed trails of Bear River State Park, and the Rio Oso Trails. Runners pass through river bottoms and riparian areas with views of the Bear River and local wildlife, including elk and bison; the event notes sightings of a white bison.

Aid stations are located along the courses. All finishers receive a T-shirt and a finisher award. The event lists a six hour cutoff for each distance.

Distances offered:

  • 10K (6.2 miles), 45 ft total vertical, 6 hour cutoff
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles), 684 ft vertical gain, 6 hour cutoff
  • 17 Miler (17 miles), 1,138 ft vertical gain, high point 7,342 ft, 6 hour cutoff

The half marathon route includes both river-bottom trails and higher trails on Wyoming bluffs with views of the plains and the Uinta mountain skyline. The 17 Miler extends farther into the plains and higher elevations before returning to Bear Meadows Park. Walkers are explicitly welcome on the 10K and half marathon distances.
