Beacons Ultra, Marathon and Half 2026
The Beacons Ultra, Marathon and Half is a multi-distance running event held in the Brecon Beacons. All races start and finish at Henderson Hall in the village of Talybont-on-Usk. The courses utilize a mix of terrain, including mountain paths, trails, canal towpaths, and roads.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 49 mile ultra: This course consists of two loops of a 23-mile route and includes an out and back section to the summit of Pen y Fan on the first loop. It features a total elevation gain of 2,258 metres.
- 26 mile marathon: This single-loop race follows the classic ultra route and includes an ascent of Pen y Fan. It features a total elevation gain of 1,319 metres.
- 13 mile half marathon: Located to the east of Talybont-on-Usk, this route takes in the 551m Tor Y Foel hill and the Talybont reservoir. It features a total elevation gain of 543 metres.
The event takes place in November, meaning weather conditions can include rain, mist, and freezing temperatures. Registration is open to runners aged 18 and older.
