Beacons Ultra, Marathon and Half 2026

The event comprises three separate races that start and finish in the town of Talybont On Usk at the foothills of the Brecon Beacons on 7 November 2026. The courses combine trail, mountain, canal and road sections and take place in mid November when weather can vary.

The distances are:

  • 49 mile Ultra
  • 26 mile Marathon
  • 13 mile Half Marathon

The Ultra consists of two loops of a 23 mile course with an out-and-back section to Pen y Fan on the first loop. Total elevation for the Ultra is 2,258 metres (7,408 feet). The Marathon follows a single loop of the classic Ultra route including a trip up Pen y Fan and has 1,319 metres (4,327 feet) of elevation. The Half Marathon runs in and around Talybont On Usk to the east of the village, includes Tor Y Foel (551 m) and the Talybont reservoir, and has 543 metres (1,781 feet) of elevation.

Past editions have seen a wide range of conditions, from sunshine to temperatures near minus 8 degrees Celsius, often with rain and mist. Minimum age to enter is 18 years.
