Course and race support
The main loop is counterclockwise and has about 3,300 ft of elevation gain and equal loss per 50 km lap (about 6,600 ft for the 100 km). Terrain is technical and rocky with native plants such as sotol; most of the course is hilly with one consistently flat section near YaYa aid station. The race is chip timed with ankle-mounted chips issued on race morning. Full aid station support is provided; Lodge, Equestrian, and Chapas stations offer hot and cold foods and drinks, while Boyles, Nachos, and YaYa offer regular food and drinks. Drop bags may be self-placed at most aid stations the day before; race-provided delivery is available to select aid stations for 100 km entrants only. Pacers are allowed for 100 km runners after one 50 km loop; one pacer at a time and pacers must register. Course markings include tape, arrows, and reflective markers for night running.
