Stump Jump 50K & 10 Miler - Signal Mountain, TN

The Stump Jump offers trail races on Signal Mountain and Walden Ridge near Chattanooga, Tennessee. Distances offered include:

  • 50K
  • 10 Miler

The course is approximately 90% single-track across the Cumberland Plateau with sandstone sections, vistas of the Tennessee River Gorge, and stream-fed coves lined with hemlock and rhododendron. Aid stations on the 50K mix light and full support; runners are asked to bring a cup and their usual hydration. Typical aid items include water, sports drink, snacks and at some stations soda, gels, oatmeal creme pies, pickles, chips, peanut butter sandwiches and fruit.

The 50K uses a 10-hour overall cutoff with intermediate cutoffs at Indian Rock House (mile 14.5) and Mullen's Cove (around mile 23). Race officials may remove participants who miss cutoffs and provide transportation back to the start.

All races start and finish at the Signal Mountain soccer fields behind Signal Mountain High School on Sam Powell Road. Packet pickup is available the day before the race and at the start/finish on race day. Crews and drop bags are not allowed; poles are permitted. Runners receive shirts, a post-race meal, and beer from Dynamo Brewing. Camping is available at the start/finish with tent space on the fields, RVs allowed without hookups, and bathroom access at the pavilion. There are no refunds, transfers, or deferments. A portion of proceeds benefits Signal Mountain Athletics and Chattanooga Cave and Cliff Rescue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
