Stillhouse 100k event overview

The 100k trail run is an out and back version of the point-to-point Upchuck 50k, held on the single-track sections of the Cumberland Trail. The route includes large climbs and descents into Soddy Creek, Possum Creek, and Rock Creek and runs on technically challenging terrain.

The course has nearly 12,000 feet of elevation gain and three outbound aid stations spaced at roughly 10 mile intervals. The event has a 19 hour cut off and registration is capped at 125 participants; prerequisite ultrarunning experience is required and will be reviewed. The race is not open to beginner ultrarunners.

Aid stations outbound are located at Heiss Mountain Road (mile 13 outbound, mile 48 inbound), Retro Hughes Road (mile 23 outbound, mile 39 inbound) and Legget Road (mile 31 turnaround). Stations will offer water, Powerade and prepacked snacks; ramen and quesadillas or grilled cheese sandwiches are planned at the turnaround. Drop bags are allowed at Heiss Mountain Road and the Legget Road turnaround.

Minimum required gear includes a hydration system with at least 1 liter capacity, a shell jacket, an insulating layer, headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries, and nutrition. Pacers may join runners from the Legget Road turnaround; pacers may be picked up at Legget Road and Heiss Mountain Road. Only one pacer per runner may accompany a runner at a time. A portion of proceeds will benefit Adventure Makers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
