Rabid Raccoon 25k: Chattanooga, TN
The Rabid Raccoon 25k is a middle-distance trail race organized by Bad Beard Events at Laurel Point on Raccoon Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The course runs across the north and west sides of the mountain and includes trails such as Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 and 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock. The route direction changes each year; the 2027 running follows a clockwise route.
All entrants receive a shirt, a finisher prize, and post-race food. Awards are given to the first, second, and third overall female and male finishers. The event is cupless so runners must carry their own hydration pack or hand-held bottle. Two aid stations provide water, Gatorade, and typical trail race snacks including granola bars, gels, and similar items. The course has a five hour cutoff.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Hello Monty on Main Street and on race day at the start and finish area. Medical services are provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service. A portion of race proceeds will benefit the Southern Off Road Biking Association, a regional division of the International Mountain Bicycling Association. The event notes several accommodation options in Chattanooga. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
