Rabid Raccoon 25k

The Rabid Raccoon is a 25K trail race on Raccoon Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The course starts at Laurel Point and traverses the north and west sides of the mountain, using named trails such as Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 and 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock. The route changes direction each year and will run clockwise in 2027.

All runners receive a shirt, a finisher prize, and post race food. Awards are presented to the first three overall female and male finishers. Dogs are not permitted on the course.

This event is cupless, so all runners must bring their own hydration pack or a hand held bottle. There will be two aid stations offering typical trail race items such as granola bars, gummy bears, gels, chips, plus water and Gatorade. Medical services are provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service and donations to that organization are welcome.

A portion of race proceeds will benefit SORBA Chattanooga. That organization works on advocacy, education, and recreational activities to promote land access, trail preservation, and new trail development in the Chattanooga area.

Volunteers support event operations and are acknowledged by the organizer. Accommodation options mentioned by the organizer include the Crash Pad, Hotel Indigo, Mayor’s Mansion B B, The Moxy, and Raccoon Mountain Caverns and Campgrounds. There are no refunds and bib numbers may not be transferred. Bib swapping will result in disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
