Rabid Raccoon 25K

The Rabid Raccoon is a middle-distance trail race held on Raccoon Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The course begins at Laurel Point and covers the north and west sides of the mountain, using named trails including Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 and 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock. For 2027 the race direction is clockwise.

All entrants receive a shirt, a finisher prize, and post-race food. Awards are presented to first, second, and third place overall for female and male divisions. Participants have a five-hour time limit to complete the course.

This is a cupless race; runners must provide their own hydration pack or hand-held bottle. There are two aid stations supplying water, Gatorade, and typical trail-race snacks such as granola bars, gels, gummy bears, and chips. Medical services are provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service, which operates on donations.

Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Hello Monty on Main Street and on race day at the start/finish area. Registration closes January 7, 2027. Volunteers support course operations and are an essential part of the event.

A portion of proceeds benefits SORBA Chattanooga, whose mission is to promote land access, trail preservation, and new trail development in the Chattanooga area. Recommended nearby accommodations include the Crash Pad, Hotel Indigo, Mayor’s Mansion B&B, The Moxy, and Raccoon Mountain Caverns and Campgrounds.

No refunds are offered and bib numbers may not be transferred; bib-swapping results in disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
