The Rabid Raccoon is a middle-distance trail race presented by Bad Beard Events, held on January 17, 2026, at Laurel Point on Raccoon Mountain near Chattanooga, Tennessee. The event distance is 25K. The course begins atop Raccoon Mountain at Laurel Point and runs on the north and west sides of the mountain. Trails used include Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 and 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock. The 2026 course will be run in a counter-clockwise direction. There is a 5-hour time limit to complete the course. Awards are given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall female and male finishers. All finishers receive a campfire mug.

Logistics and support

Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at a to-be-determined location and on race day at the start/finish area. This is a cupless race; participants must bring a hydration pack or handheld bottle. There are 2 aid stations offering water, Gatorade, and typical trail race snacks such as granola bars, gels, and gummy treats. Medical services are provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service. A portion of race proceeds benefits SORBA Chattanooga, an organization focused on trail access and preservation.
