Course and logistics

Courses follow desert trails in the foothills of the Sierra Estrella mountains and use a mix of surfaces: crushed granite single track, rocks and boulders, sandy washes, old jeep roads, and dry wash beds. The 100 mile format uses two 10-mile red loops followed by three 27-mile blue loops; runners pass the start/finish area multiple times. A 1.5-2 mile section called Corgett Wash can be very sandy; gaiters are recommended. Hiking poles are allowed.

Aid stations are provided and the event operates as a cupless race - reusable cups are encouraged. Drop bags are allowed at the Rumble HQ for all distances; 100M, 100K, and 60K runners may also use a remote drop bag at Horse Thief Aid. Crews are permitted at Rumble HQ and limited crew access is allowed at Horse Thief Aid. Pacers are permitted for 100M and 100K under specified rules. Time limits vary by distance.
