Amberaid 30 Trail Race and Petit Raid

Ashover, United Kingdom • 17 Oct 2026

Amberaid and Petit Raid

The event offers two trail races in the Amber Valley, Derbyshire, close to the eastern edge of the Peak District. Routes run over undulating countryside paths and woodland trails, with climbs, descents and expansive views. The full Amberaid route forms a figure of 8 from Ashover Village Hall and passes through rural sections of the valley.

Distances:

  • 31 miles Amberaid full route
  • 20 miles Petit Raid northern loop

The route is largely unmarked, with a couple of trickier navigation sections marked. Organisers provide route notes and GPX files for download; runners may bring a paper map as backup. There is a nine hour time limit. Runners on the Amberaid route must have left CP2 by 12.30pm or they will be redirected onto the Petit Raid route.

Checkpoints are positioned along the course and provide water at every checkpoint. CP1 Tupton (7 miles) and CP2 Wessington (13.5 miles) and CP4 Wessington (25.5 miles) also offer sweet and savoury food. CP3 Fritchley is at 20 miles on the Amberaid route.

Every finisher receives a medal and there are prizes for first male and first female in each race. Free parking is available at Ashover Village Hall and medic cover is provided on the course and at race headquarters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
