Allithwaite 8 is a trail race held on Saturday 1 November 2025 at Allithwaite Community Centre, Quarry Lane, Allithwaite, LA11 7QJ, on the edge of the Lake District and the Cartmel peninsula. The course is approximately 8 miles / 13 km and uses trail, fell and quiet roads. The event is organized by Allithwaite Running Club and holds an ARC event permit number ARC/25/0402. Prizes are offered for 1st, 2nd and 3rd open men and women, and there are prizes for veteran and U18 categories. Dogs are not allowed on the course or at the community centre.

Entries and logistics

Entries opened 14 July 2025 and close 29 October 2025. The event is currently full; new entries are placed on a waiting list. Entry fees are £13.00 for seniors and £7.00 for under 18s, with a £2.00 discount for EA/ARC affiliated runners. Minimum age on race day is 16 years (parental consent required if under 18). Kit requirements include hat, gloves and full body cover/waterproofs; off-road shoes are recommended. Limited free car parking is available near the venue. Toilets and refreshments are available at race HQ; water will be provided at the finish but entrants should bring a cup. No entries are taken on the day. Challenge yourself on a classic Lake District fell race from Ambleside, tackling 14 km with 880 m of ascent and spectacular views. Entry is on the day for £2 and competitors must be 18 or over, with a strict cut off at Loughrigg summit.

Trail races from Grizedale Forest Visitor Centre offering a half marathon that follows the first 13 miles of the marathon and a 26.2 mile course that continues on an eastern loop with mixed forest tracks and lake views.

Trail runs at Grizedale Forest on 8 February 2026 feature fully marked, chip timed courses on wide forest paths. Choose a 10K with 260 m ascent or a 6K with 150 m ascent; two dogs per runner are permitted on a suitable harness.

Off-road event near Preston offering 10k and 11 mile routes across tracks and fields around Caldervale and the base of Beacon Fell country park. The 11 mile has a three hour cutoff and maps with three checkpoints are provided.
