AdventHealth Nighthawk Trail Run - Colt Creek State Park
The AdventHealth Nighthawk Trail Run is an evening trail event at Colt Creek State Park in Lakeland, Florida, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026. The event uses loop courses on unpaved park trails and includes organized runs at multiple distances.
Distances:
- Night Owl 5K - 3.1 miles
- Coyote 10K - 6.2 miles
- Nighthawk 15K Challenge - completion of both 5K and 10K
The 5K requires a battery-powered headlamp. Organizers note that trail conditions may include soft sand, standing water, mud, rocks, roots, and wildlife. Because of course conditions, strollers, baby joggers, and pets are prohibited. Packet pick-up is handled at Colt Creek State Park. There is a park admission fee of $2 to $4 for entry; one-day park passes can be purchased in advance.
Race services include a premium commemorative cotton shirt, finisher medals for each distance, and a bonus medal for those registered for the Nighthawk Challenge. The course is described as accurately measured and well marked, with chip timing and awards presented three deep in five-year age groups for both events. Post-race food and drinks are provided. Maps and course PDFs are available for the 5K and 10K routes. Organizers recommend that Nighthawk Challenge entrants be able to run a 10K in under 1:30.
