Punk Panther Yorkshire Reservoir Dogs

Yorkshire Reservoir Dogs is a trail event organised by Punk Panther that follows a waterside route passing seven reservoirs. The route includes Lindley Wood, Swinsty, Fewston and Thruscross reservoirs, then John O’Gaunt, Beaver Dyke and Scargill reservoirs; Eccup reservoir is included on the longer route. Areas of note on the route include Stainburn Forest and Almscliffe Crag.

Distances offered cover a range from half marathon to ultramarathon, with the listed options:

  • 13 miles
  • 20 miles
  • 32 miles

Recorded climb for the courses is given as 1400, 1900 and 3500 feet respectively. Checkpoints on the courses provide water, coke, energy bars and crisps. All ultramarathon entrants are supplied with a tracker; half marathon and 20 mile runners may hire a tracker for a fee. Route GPX files and a route description are provided in advance and taped or flagged on the course, though competitors are advised not to rely solely on tape for navigation.

A common kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks may be carried out on course; missing mandatory kit can lead to disqualification. The minimum age for entry is 18 and the event has a maximum field size of 200. Finishers receive a medal and an event T-shirt and food at the finish includes homemade pie, cheese toasties and a 10 bean chilli suitable for vegan and gluten free diets.
