Wincle Trout
The Wincle Trout is a hill running event held as part of the annual Wincle Fete, which is usually on the second Saturday in June. The run follows a variable route through the Dane Valley and Gradbach and typically covers 5 to 6.5 miles. The course changes each year depending on which local farm is hosting the fete, and it includes several river crossings.
Organisers have held the event at different farms in recent years. The 2026 run started from Mellor Knowl Farm. The 2027 Wincle Trout is scheduled for Saturday 12 June 2027 at Tolls Farm by the brewery. Race results and written race reports are published for multiple years, including senior, junior and team results.
Participants receive a bottle of beer after the run and are commonly offered refreshments such as tea and cake at the fete. The event is presented alongside the wider fete activities on the host farm and follows a route that reflects local farm access and conditions each year.
