Wild West Relay
The Wild West Relay is a point to point team relay across Colorado held August 6 to August 7, 2027. The route covers 200 miles split into 36 legs, beginning in Fort Collins and finishing in Steamboat Springs. The course passes through foothills and the Rocky Mountains and crosses two mountain passes.
Teams can be formed in several formats. Event categories include twelve runner teams, Ultra teams (4 to 6 runners), Super Ultra teams (1 to 3 runners) and a High School team category. The event also allows solo entries and teams of two up to twelve runners. Team captains register first and can set up a team before all members are committed. Teams may provide volunteers or pay a volunteer fee that is payable to Windsor Gives.
Gear check and packet pickup are mandatory and are offered in Fort Collins the day before the race and on race morning roughly one hour before a team start. This event follows rules of the road; public traffic remains open and runners must obey traffic, stop when instructed, and follow guidance from volunteers. If a team faces exchange cutoff issues, the next runner may begin early only when the adjustment is logged, communicated to exchange volunteers, and complies with exchange open and close times.
