Wight Riot
Wight Riot is a mixed terrain running event held on the coastal path at Milford on Sea near Hurst Road. The route runs out and back along the coast with views of the Isle of Wight, The Needles and Sturt Pond Nature Reserve. Laps measure 5.3 km (3.28 miles) each and participants may choose distances from shorter runs up to ultra marathon distances.
Race day arrangements include on-the-day number pick-up at registration, a music soundtrack, and a finisher medal for each participant. A staffed aid station called Run DMC is positioned at the start/finish of each lap offering a variety of sweet and savoury snacks and drinks. The event operates a cupless policy; participants should bring their own drinking vessel. Bag drop is located at the race HQ (marked by a pink gazebo). Public toilets are available at the start/finish area and at points on the route. Paid parking is available at the start/finish.
The event is licensed by the TRA and will be run under UKA rules; UK Athletics distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under. Local facilities near the venue include a playground, cafes and food outlets, Sturt Pond bird hide, Hurst Castle, a beach and nearby pubs.
