White Tank Throwdown - Race overview
White Tank Throwdown takes place on January 23, 2027, in the White Tank Mountains inside White Tank Mountain Regional Park. The event offers three trail distances that move between runnable desert perimeter trails and more technical mountain terrain.
Courses combine fast desert sections with rocky footing, sandy washes, and canyon running, including sections through Ford Canyon and Mesquite Canyon. The longer distances travel deeper into technical terrain and have greater sustained climbing and exposure.
Choose from these distances:
- 10K - ~6.2 miles, ~500 ft gain; fast desert course; entry $50; one aid station
- 20K - ~12.7 miles, ~2,000 ft gain; full Throwdown without out-and-backs; entry $65
- 30K - ~18.6 miles, ~2,500 ft gain; full technical course; entry $75
The event is cupless: all runners must carry their own bottles, hydration pack, or reusable cup. Both the 20K and 30K use a remote Mesquite Canyon aid station at about 8.6 miles. The 10K includes a single on-course aid station on the start/finish perimeter trail (pass-through at roughly 4 miles). Time limits are posted for each distance and entry fees are nonrefundable.
All distances start and finish at the Group Camp parking area inside White Tank Mountain Regional Park. Park admission is $10 per vehicle; valid Maricopa County Parks day-use annual passes are accepted when the passholder is present. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
