Where Da Gold At? Backyard Ultra

Where Da Gold At? Backyard Ultra is scheduled for March 13-14 in Saraland, Alabama at the Jacinto Port Trail System and the trailhead at 98 Station St. The event uses the official Backyard Ultra format: runners must complete a 4.1667-mile loop within one hour, every hour, and be present in the starting corral when the top-of-the-hour whistle sounds. The event continues hourly until only one runner remains.

Registration is strictly capped at 75 runners because of trailhead parking limits. Basecamp allows one standard 10x10 pop-up tent or canopy per runner for crew and gear. Heavy machinery is not permitted.

Course notes describe a mostly flat trail that is wide enough to pass. The route uses Jacinto Port terrain and becomes darker after sunset. Basecamp provisioning will include pizza, pickles, candy, trail mix, multiple hot meals, and hydration options such as water, pickle juice, sodas, and Tailwind.

Finisher milestones and event awards include:

  • Half Marathon (4 loops): official event finisher medal
  • Marathon (7 loops): premium event T-shirt
  • 50-Mile (12 loops): heavy custom Gold Coin
  • 100-Mile (24 loops): Amateur Sketch Belt Buckle
  • Last Man Standing: Leprechaun Flute awarded to the champion

All other participants who stop before the final winner receive an official DNF designation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
