Puppy Creek Challenge
The Puppy Creek Challenge is a trail running event at Puppy Creek Ranch, 14350 Mason Ferry Road, Citronelle, AL 36522, organized by the Port City Pacers Running Club. The event is limited to two distances run on a looped 5K cross country course that includes woods, meadows, creeks, and hills. The courses are not certified.
- 25K : five loops of the 5K course
- 10K : two loops of the 5K course
Course support includes a water station at the start and finish area and two comfort stations along the course providing water, Gatorade, and light snacks. Participants may set up small tents or canopies and store supplies in a field near the course.
Runners in both distances have a five hour time limit to complete the race. Participation is limited to 300 registrants. Registration options include mail entries postmarked by October 10, in person at specified local stores in Mobile until the day before the race, or online until the morning of the event. Early packet pick-up and late registration are available at the PCP office the day before the race. Packet pick-up and race day registration are handled at Puppy Creek Ranch.
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each distance, and all finishers receive a finisher's medal. Short sleeved race shirts are provided; to guarantee a shirt register by October 10. A post race gathering will include awards, food, and beverages. A limited number of camping spots are available with restrooms, grills, and running water but no showers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
