Do It in the Bush 5K and Fun Run
Organized by Port City Pacers, this event is held at Chickasabogue Park, 760 Aldock Road, Eight Mile, AL 36613. Proceeds benefit the Port City Pacers Scholarship Fund.
Distances offered:
- 5K trail run
- Fun Run approximately 0.75 mile on a paved trail
The trail course may include roots, rocks, and mud puddles depending on weather. If portions of the course are affected by severe flooding, the organizers may move the 5K route to the park roadways and sidewalks.
Registration options include mail (entries postmarked by May 15), online through May 21, and in person at McCoy Outdoor, Run-N-Tri, or Fleet Feet in Mobile through May 21. Early packet pick-up and late registration are available at the PCP office on Friday, May 21. Packet pick-up and race day registration take place at the Playground Pavilion.
Awards are given to top male and female Overall, Masters, Grandmasters, Senior Grandmasters, and Walker. The top three male and female finishers are recognized in age groups 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; and 80+.
To guarantee a shirt on race day, applications and fees must be submitted by May 8. After the event there are awards, food and beverages, and park amenities including a splash pad, pickleball courts, playground, and trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
