Wharfedale 3 Peaks Challenge

The Wharfedale Three Peaks Challenge is an annual fundraising event organised by the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association. It is held from Kettlewell village in the Yorkshire Dales and is in its 14th year. All proceeds support the operational costs of the local mountain rescue team.

All courses start and finish in Kettlewell. There are three route options:

  • 17 miles, 3800 ft, Firth Fell, Buckden Pike, Great Whernside
  • 13.5 miles, 2500 ft, Buckden Pike, Great Whernside
  • 4.5 miles, 300 ft, family valley walk

Entry fees include parking, a pie or pasty, and tea or coffee. Standard entry fees listed are: Three Peaks £25, Two Peaks £25, Valley Walk Adult £10, Valley Walk Child free. Entry on the day is £25. Course ages state the valley walk adult entry is for those 18 years or older and the valley walk child category is up to 17 years old.

Water stations are provided at Buckden village and at the Tor Dike/Park Rash road crossing; participants are asked to bring a water container. Dogs are not allowed on the fell courses; dogs are permitted on the valley walk. GPX files and route descriptions are provided for each course and additional refreshments and a cake stall support the rescue team on the day.
