Weald Challenge : 6 June 2027
The Weald Challenge is a trail half marathon held from the village of Chiddingly, Sussex. The route follows parts of the Wealdway out and returns on the Vanguard Way. The course is mostly off road on public footpaths and bridleways with a total road distance of 2.8 miles. The start and finish are at Chiddingly Primary School, Muddles Green, East Sussex, BN8 6HN.
The course begins with 0.75 miles along a quiet country lane and ends with 0.55 miles on the same lane back to race headquarters. There are two checkpoints: Newplace Park at 5.6 miles (9k) and Scallow Bridge at 10.2 miles (16.1k). The event is chip timed with three start waves five minutes apart; results and awards are determined by chip time. A time limit of 5 hours applies.
Runners should expect typical trail conditions including uneven ground, steps, 16 stiles (some of which may not be in good condition), possible mud, and fields where livestock may be present. Gates should be left closed and litter must not be dropped. Some course clearing is done before the event but brambles and nettles may remain.
Entry is limited to 400 runners; the event sold out in 2024 and entries were close to the limit in 2025 and 2026. The minimum age on race day is 17 years. Deferrals and name transfers are allowed up to 6 May 2027; refunds are not offered.
Included for finishers: water, bananas and oranges at checkpoints and finish, a bespoke coffee mug, a bespoke finisher medal or a £4 donation to Uckfield Foodbank if the "Meals Not Medals" option is chosen, complimentary drinks and cake after the race, free downloadable photos, free adjacent car parking, first aid and medical cover, plus prizes for overall and age-category placings. Bone conducting headphones only are permitted and dogs are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
