8th Annual Violet Crown Trail Fun Run
The Violet Crown Trail Fun Run is an annual, untimed community event organized by Hill Country Conservancy on National Public Lands Day. The eighth edition takes place on September 26, 2026 at the VCT - Whirlpool Trailhead in Austin, located at Latta Drive and Convict Hill Road.
The event welcomes participants of all ages and abilities to run, walk, skip, or roll along the trail. It highlights the connection between neighborhoods, wooded areas, urban amenities, and parks while supporting stewardship of the Violet Crown Trail and the Hill Country Conservancy mission. Proceeds support continued trail growth and conservation work.
Attendees can take part in a finish line community celebration featuring local businesses and nonprofit trail partners, with activities and opportunities to connect. Registration includes access to the fun run and finish line party, complimentary breakfast tacos and coffee, a Fun Run T-shirt, a finisher's medal, and exclusive 2026 event swag. Registration fees range from free to a paid tier.
The event is in person and listed with an approximate two hour duration. Refunds are available up to seven days before the event.
