About the race
OUTLAST is a trail endurance challenge held in Dripping Springs, Texas at 1042 Event Center Dr. The format requires participants to complete a 5K loop every hour; each lap must be finished within the hour to continue. Runners who finish all allotted laps for their chosen event receive the corresponding finisher medal and ranking.
Two timed events are offered, with each 5K lap timed individually and combined times used for local results and the national leaderboard.
Participants earn recognition as they progress:
- 4 laps earns a “Grit Earned” patch
- 5 laps earns a “Survivor” patch
- 6 Hour Finisher earns a premium OUTLAST 6-inch medal
- 12 Hour Finisher earns a premium OUTLAST ULTRA 12-inch medal
All participants receive a premium OUTLAST T‑shirt. The top male and female in each event win the 1st Place OUTLAST award. The fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6-hour events on the national leaderboard is crowned National Champion and receives a $1,000 prize.
The course is trail-based with natural terrain, elevation, and variable conditions; some sections may include pavement or gravel. Aid stations at the loop start provide water, basic hydration, and snacks; the event is cupless, so participants are expected to carry their own bottle or hydration system. Tent setups are allowed at the basecamp. Walking is permitted provided each 5K is completed within the hour. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
