Longhorn Last Person Standing
Longhorn Last Person Standing is a backyard ultra held on a working ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas, on December 5, 2026. The event uses the standard backyard ultra format: every hour runners must complete a 4.1667 mile loop with approximately 200 feet of elevation gain and return to the start/finish within 60 minutes. Any runner who fails to complete a loop in time or who does not start the next loop is eliminated.
The race has no fixed distance or finish line; it continues until only one runner remains. Only the Last Man Standing and the Last Woman Standing are official finishers; all other entrants are recorded as DNF. The field is capped at 123 runners and this is presented as the inaugural running of the event. Prize purses of $5,000 are listed for each of the two official finishers.
Aid is provided only at the start/finish area; runners are expected to carry any required nutrition or hydration while on the loop. Pacers are not permitted, and crew access is restricted to the start/finish. Parking is available at the venue.
The event includes an on-site camp atmosphere with a continuously lit fire pit, barbecue service, live music, and on-ranch features such as grazing longhorn cattle and ranch hospitality. Exact venue and course details will be provided closer to race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
