The Ladysmith stop of the Vancouver Island Trail Running Series takes place at Transfer Beach in Ladysmith, BC on July 3, 2027. The event features trail courses through Holland Creek and Heart Lake and a summertime barbecue on the waterfront at Transfer Beach. The organizers acknowledge that the event occurs on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Stz’uminus First Nation.

Distances offered:

  • 20 km long course, approximately 680 m vertical gain, two aid stations
  • 10 km short course, approximately 280 m vertical gain, one aid station

Aid stations will provide water, Gatorade, fruit, chips, pickles, and assorted snacks. The series operates cupless aid stations; participants are expected to carry a personal drink container or may purchase a cup at the Frontrunners merch tent. The kids race registration fees support the Cowichan Valley Trailblazers Society.

Logistics notes: the field near the playground at Transfer Beach is the event setup area, there is ample parking at Transfer Beach Park, and dogs are not permitted at Transfer Beach. Bib pickup requires a government issued photo ID and is handled at the registration tent with staggered pickup times.
