Ultra Trail Chattanooga by UTMB
Ultra Trail Chattanooga by UTMB centers on the River to Clouds route, where the Tennessee River carries runners from riverfront streets into Appalachian ridgelines. The course moves from the energy of downtown into mountain terrain, with sections that rise in elevation and vary in surface and effort. The route emphasizes a continuous progression between city and wilderness and includes visible community presence along the way.
The event offers multiple race distances and measured elevation gains:
- 100 KM - 2436 M+ elevation gain
- 50.5 KM - 1163 M+ elevation gain
- 20.5 KM - 410 M+ elevation gain
Chattanooga is described as a National Park City where downtown streets, river paths, and mountain trailheads are closely connected. Race weekend features local character, visible support from spectators, and a sense of proximity between course sections and the city.
UTMB Community Bibs are part of the event program. They are administered through the IRONMAN Foundation and direct half of the registration costs for those bibs to a local charity chosen by the race team. The IRONMAN and IRONMAN Foundation charitable giveback programs have provided over $60 million to more than 10,000 initiatives since 2003.
