Rabid Raccoon 25K
The Rabid Raccoon is a middle-distance trail race held on Raccoon Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with the start and finish at the Laurel Point parking area. The event is a 25K run that uses trails on the north and western side of the mountain, including Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 and 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock.
The course accumulates about 2,200 feet of elevation gain. The route direction alternates each year; the 2027 edition follows the course clockwise. Participants must complete the course within five hours.
Aid stations: the race is cupless, so participants must carry their own hydration pack or hand-held bottle. Two aid stations will provide water, Gatorade, and common trail race nutrition such as granola bars, gels, and other small snacks. Medical coverage is provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service.
Logistics: packet pickup includes an early pickup on January 8, 2027 at a to-be-determined location and race day pickup at the start/finish area on January 9, 2027. Awards will be presented to the top three overall female and male finishers. Post-race food and beverages are provided. Dogs are not permitted on the course.
The event is produced by Bad Beard Events. A portion of race proceeds will benefit the Southern Off Road Biking Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
