Rabid Raccoon 25k
The Rabid Raccoon is a 25K trail race held at Laurel Point on Raccoon Mountain near Chattanooga, Tennessee. The course runs across the north and west sides of the mountain and uses named singletrack trails including Megawatt, Grindstone Ridge, Lower Chunky, Live Wire 1 and 2, High Voltage, and Split Rock. For 2027 the course direction is clockwise.
The event is hosted by Bad Beard Events. All entrants receive a shirt, a finisher prize, and post-race food. Awards are given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall female and male. The race enforces a cupless policy; runners must carry their own hydration pack or hand-held bottle. There are two aid stations providing water, Gatorade, and common trail race food such as granola bars, gels, and gummy bears. The course has a five hour cutoff.
Packet pickup is offered the day before at Hello Monty on Main Street and at the start/finish area on race day. Medical services are provided by Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service; donations to support that organization are accepted. A portion of race proceeds benefits SORBA Chattanooga, which works on land access, trail preservation, and new trail development in the region.
