About the race
The Ultra Tour of Edinburgh is a mass-participation ultramarathon covering 34 miles (55km) on and around the city of Edinburgh. The route begins with a closed-road charge down the Royal Mile and passes notable city landmarks and corridors including Calton Hill, Salisbury Crags in Holyrood Park and the Water of Leith out to Leith. The course is fully waymarked with bright orange arrows and staffed at key points.
The event is fully supported with three pit stops along the route, a sweeper service to move participants who withdraw, and professional on-site medical cover provided by an established event medic service. Participants are issued a satellite/GPS tracker at pre-event tracker collection and must collect it the day before the event; the tracker is returned at the finish. A finisher medal and an event neck buff are provided at registration and a commemorative T-shirt can be added to entries and collected at registration.
Mandatory kit requirements include a method to carry kit, a minimum 2 litre water capacity, a waterproof jacket and trousers with taped or welded seams, a bivvi bag, basic first aid items, whistle and a charged mobile phone. The event is non-competitive in format, displays times in alphabetical order and requires participants to be over 18 on the day of registration. A charity refund option is available for qualifying fundraising. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
