Twilight Trail 5K - Kanuga, Hendersonville
The Twilight Trail 5K is a single-loop trail race held at Kanuga in Hendersonville, North Carolina on August 8, 2026. The event is capped at 300 participants and uses professional chip timing with timing mats and a timing chip mounted on the back of the race bib. Age group awards are given and the route is clearly marked with GPS-supported navigation.
The course is the same 5K used for the Kanuga Triathlon run and combines smooth single-track, double-track, forest road, and a few short paved sections with gentle elevation changes. The route is scenic and shaded by hardwood forest.
Registered participants who sign up by July 12 receive a free commemorative shirt; shirts are available for $25 after that date. A custom finisher medal is offered to the first 300 registrants. A virtual race option is available; virtual participants receive the shirt (if within the registration deadline) and any finisher item by mail.
Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the course for safety and congestion reasons. Transfers into the virtual event are allowed prior to the start; transfers between participants are prohibited and transfers within seven days of the event incur a $10 fee. The organizer does not offer refunds and reserves the right to convert in-person entries to the virtual option in the event of cancellation, with swag mailed to registrants.
The event is associated with the Kanuga Trail & Tri Challenge and supports the iDream Athletes Foundation, which provides needs-based scholarships and local sport support in Western North Carolina. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
