TRSA On the Trails – Mount Bold
Race #5 at Mount Bold takes place at Mount Bold Road, Kangarilla SA, and includes the South Australia Trail Championships. The event loops through the Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve, which surrounds the reservoir and more than 5,500 hectares of native vegetation of conservation significance. The terrain includes stringybark and manna gum woodlands, swamps, creeks and viewpoints over the dam wall and the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Four main trail distances are offered, plus a kids cross-country run:
- Extra long : 35 km, elevation 1098 m
- Long : 25 km, elevation 834 m
- Medium : 19 km, elevation 673 m
- Short : 10 km, elevation 478 m
- Kids cross-country : about 1–1.5 km
The extra long and long courses are UTMB Index races and part of the ITRA National Challenge; the courses do not attract ITRA points. Drink stations provide water, Tailwind and lollies but participants must bring their own drinking container. All runners and walkers must finish by 12:00 pm or be recorded as DNF; specific pace cutoffs apply for each distance and will be strictly enforced. Walkers may only enter the short event.
On-site services after the race include free fruit and brownies, sponsor tents, a quick massage by Botanic Health and a members-only random draw. Parking may be restricted depending on entry numbers and detailed instructions are provided in the race briefing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
