Traprock 50 - Bloomfield, CT
Traprock 50 is a trail running event organized by the CT Trailmixers at Penwood State Park in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The event offers two distances:
- 50K: three loops of approximately 10.5 to 11 miles each
- 17K: one loop of the same course
The course is a looped circuit that follows the Metacomet Trail for roughly half of its length, with the remainder on double-track. Terrain consists entirely of rolling forest roads and single track that can be extremely rocky. The power line hill remains part of the course. A course map is available on AllTrails.
The organizers describe the route as a test of fitness and mental stamina and recommend that entrants have recent long distance running experience such as a road or trail marathon. The event is cupless; participants should plan to carry their own cup or handheld bottle. A tech shirt is available for separate purchase from the event store. Race proceeds benefit local organizations including the Simsbury Land Trust and the Connecticut Forest & Parks Association.
Registration opens November 26, 2026. Once capacity is reached, a waitlist opens; runners are selected from the waitlist in registration order and have two days to accept an offered spot. Refunds before March 1 are 50 percent; after that there are no refunds, no bib transfers, and no deferrals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
